Redstone, CO Colorado
REDSTONE, Colorado – Rescuers responded to Hays Creek Falls south of Redstone Tuesday afternoon after receiving a report of a man in need of help at the top of the falls.
The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a passerby at about 4:30 p.m. who said a man was waving and calling for help at the top of the falls, a popular climbing area. Carbondale firefighters, the sheriff’s office and Mountain Rescue Aspen all responded.
They discovered the hiker, a Redstone man, had “cliffed out” and needed help finding a way back down. The mission wrapped up at about 6:45 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.
Hays Creek Falls is located next to Highway 133 in the Crystal River Valley.
