Rescuers pull man from Colorado River

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” Emergency crews pulled a man from the Colorado River along Interstate 70 at South Canyon on Monday afternoon.

Authorities responded to a report just after 3:20 p.m. that a man was seen floating in the river.

Garfield County Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Tanny McGinnis said crews from the department’s Search and Rescue unit and the Burning Mountains Fire Protection District spotted the man and pulled him from the water.

He was taken to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, but his name and condition were not released.

The South Canyon section of the Colorado River was flowing at 13,000 cubic feet per second Monday afternoon.
