Restaurant Week gets set for giving day on Thursday

VAIL and BEAVER CREEK — The second annual Vail Beaver Creek Restaurant Week is going on now through Sunday. Diners have raved about the $20.14 specials thus far and plan to try many more in the days ahead. On Thursday, 10 percent of all proceeds from participating Vail Beaver Creek Restaurant Week restaurants will be donated to the Vail Valley Foundation.

“We are honored to have been selected as the nonprofit beneficiary of Vail Beaver Creek Restaurant Week,” said Ceil Folz, president of the Vail Valley Foundation. “This event is a wonderful opportunity for both locals and guests to enjoy the valley’s best food at great prices and I hope everyone will join in the festivities.”

The Vail Valley Foundation was selected as the nonprofit beneficiary by the restaurant group for its dedication to enhance and sustain the spirit of the Vail Valley by providing leadership in athletic, cultural and educational endeavors, including the 2015 Vail Beaver Creek FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.

So far Restaurant Week, which started Friday, has been a success! The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive by those who have already dined out and those who plan to get out this week. After dining at the Blue Moose in Beaver Creek Village, Kara Levine, a visitor from Snowmass, said, “It was fun to get up to Beaver Creek while the colors were at their peak and of course we wanted to pop in to one of our favorite stops, the Blue Moose. The specials were perfect for sharing and we got to try some local beers we didn’t even know were on the menu.”

Not only are restaurants reporting that many of their loyal fan base have come in for the event but they’ve also been seeing many new faces from the community and beyond.

“I’ve lived in the Vail Valley for four years, but there are still so many restaurants I haven’t tried — I’m excited for Restaurant Week so I can check out Elway’s and Mountain Standard for the first time ever,” said Anna Robinson, special events manager at the Beaver Creek Resort Company.
