Revamped Jeep Tour in Telluride

TELLURIDE, Colorado ” The Jeep King of the Mountain Tour, which recently merged with the Honda Ski Tour, starts its four-stop tour this weekend in Telluride. Along with men’s and women’s ski cross and snowboard cross events, the Tour will feature live music, a film festival, a fashion show and an environmental expo.

After training and qualifying today and Friday, the ski cross competition takes place on Saturday with the snowboard cross coming on Sunday. The field of more than 100 skiers and boarders includes X Games and Olympic medalists, and just about all the top competitors in the world. Vail’s Chris Del Bosco will be competing in the skier cross for Canada. Former U.S. Ski Team member Daron Rahlves will also be competing. Some of the musical acts include Swollen Members, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Macy Gray and Blackalicious.

The skier cross will air on CBS on Dec. 29 from 3-4 p.m., while the snowboard cross will air on CBS on Jan. 12 from 2-3 p.m. After Telluride, the tour heads to Squaw Valley, Calif., Feb 8-10 and then Sun Valley, Idaho, March 14-16. The final stop has yet to be determined. Other stops will feature men’s and women’s skier and snowboard halfpipe competitions.
