Revive that New Year’s resolution with the Gypsum Rec Center
GYPSUM — The shine has rubbed off on the new year and many local residents have likely lost enthusiasm for their fitness program resolutions.
The Gypsum Recreation Center wants to help everyone revive their resolution appetite.
“We always get people who come in starting in January,” said Lucas Rivera, of the Gypsum Recreation Center. “But what people really need is a program for when they get tired of doing that, when they have lost the hunger for their goals.”
Resolution Revive Program features a box full of fitness tools to help maintain New Year’s resolutions. The first is a special Gypsum Recreation Center exercise class planned every Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30. Class begins March 2 and runs through May 4.
Rivera will be the course instructor and the high intensity class will feature TRX suspension training, body weight movements and light weights. This class will only be available to Resolution Revive participants.
“People are intimidated sometimes to come to fitness classes,” Rivera said.
He noted the Resolution Revive setting will be a smaller group featuring like-minded students, which will hopefully help people who are intimated by larger classes.
Along with the training, Resolution Revive participants will get deals and swag. All participants will receive a Polar watch with heart rate monitor. The watches track calories burned and heart rate.
“It’s a really cool watch and it has a big display that you can read,” Rivera said.
