Rifle tanker truck accident kills one
RIFLE ” One person was killed when a tanker truck rolled over on Mamm Creek south of Rifle Monday.
Rifle Fire Chief Mike Morgan said the truck was headed south at about 4 p.m. when the accident occurred. He said he believed the person who died had been driving the truck.
Morgan said the tanker, with a capacity of 8,000 to 10,000 gallons, was carrying some kind of hydrocarbons, probably condensates related to oil and gas development. He said emergency response crews had contained the tanker’s contents and were preparing to remove them from the tanker as of about 6 p.m.
Morgan said he had no further information on the incident. The accident investigation was being handled by the Colorado State Patrol, which could not be reached for comment Monday evening.
