Ritter unveiling plan to increase Colorado college degrees

DENVER, Colorado ” Gov. Bill Ritter, lawmakers and education advocates are introducing legislation that will allow students to earn a college associates degree while getting a high school diploma.

The bill is being unveiled Friday at the Lowry Campus of the Community College of Aurora.

Ritter outlined the program in his State of the State speech in January. It’s part of his plan to increase the number of college degrees being awarded to Colorado students.

The program is called ASCENT, short for Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment.
