Riverview project tour set for Tuesday
EAGLE-VAIL, Colorado – Eagle County’s Housing and Development and Project Management staff will host a tour of the Riverview Apartments rehabilitation project beginning at noon Tuesday.The project includes new siding and insulation and improvements to the lighting, landscaping and parking lot, as well as some interior renovations. Riverview includes 72 units and is Eagle County’s only Section 8 housing complex, with rental rates dependent on income and subsidized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.Construction at Riverview began in mid-August and is scheduled for completion next spring. All tenants have been relocated for the duration of the project. Funding for the rehabilitation comes from a combination of competitive tax credit allocations in the amount of $3.8 million, grants from HUD and the Colorado Division of Housing totaling $1.5 million, and an $8.9 million permanent loan.The architect for the project is Interaction and the general contractor is R.A. Nelson & Associates, Inc., both Avon-based companies. The renovation will create more than 180 local construction jobs. All interested community members are invited to attend Tuesday’s tour.
