Road closed after truck, school bus collide in Eagle-Vail
Vail, CO Colorado
EAGLE-VAIL, Colorado – A man was issued a summons Monday after his truck crashed into a school bus on Highway 6 in Eagle-Vail, police said.
At about 8:25 a.m., Elliot Rosenberg, 27, a seasonal resident of Frisco, was traveling west in a GMC pickup truck on Highway 6 when he attempted to make a U-turn in front of the school bus, which was also going west, police said.
The school bus was driven by Robert O’Reily, 55, of Avon, and carrying 28 students of Homestake Peak School in Avon.
The bus collided with the pick-up, blocking the eastbound lanes.
There were no reported injuries, and the students were transported to school on another bus. Eastbound Highway 6 was closed for about an hour for the crash investigation and clean-up.
Rosenberg said he did not see the bus prior to making the U-turn, police said. He was issued a summons for driving under the influence of drugs, and making an unsafe U-turn, police said.
