Road cycling in Gateway Canyons

GATEWAY CANYONS ” Located one hour southwest of Grand Junction, Gateway Canyons will host the fourth annual Road Cycling Festival Thursday through Aug. 10. The weekend brings together some of the top pros from around the country, along with top amateurs and tour participants, who will all ride to benefit the Just for Kids Foundation.
The weekend includes a time trial on Friday evening followed by a road race/tour on both Saturday and Sunday. Scott Mercier, a 1992 Olympian, will host a cycling performance clinic throughout the weekend. Saturday evening will conclude the clinic with a dinner and presentation by Mercier. The dinner is $35 and will benefit the Just for Kids Foundation. The foundation seeks to empower the youths of the San Miguel Watershed region through financial and moral support.
