Road work knocks out internet service Thursday

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – A mistake on a road project in Evergreen cut internet service to Comcast customers in Eagle and Summit counties for part of the afternoon Thursday.
According to company spokeswoman Cindy Parsons, a fiber-optic cable was damaged about noon Thursday along Interstate 70 in a Colorado Department of Transportation construction zone.
A crew from Comcast was nearby and started working on a fix. Speaking just before 3 p.m., Parsons said most customers’ service had been restored.
Parsons said service outages are fairly rare for Comcast, but the company tends to see more interruptions in spring, at the start of the construction season.
