Rocks Modern Grill now open in Beaver Creek

BEAVER CREEK – Rocks Modern Grill is now open for business. Located adjacent to the newly-renovated Beaver Creek Lodge in the heart of Beaver Creek Village, Rocks Modern Grill will be open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Headed by newly-appointed Executive Chef John Trejo, the menu will feature classic American fare including burgers, steaks, fish and seafood with local and regional influence on flavor and presentation. Guests will have the options of dining inside the main restaurant, alfresco dining on the outside terrace or in the private wine room by reservations. Rocks will also offer daily specials, happy hour and live entertainment. Rocks Modern Grill’s design is inspired by hues of gold, burnt orange, red and copper. The interior features dyed concrete flooring, floor-to-ceiling baked glass panels and the Rocks Modern Grill logo carved in copper lettering in the rotunda. The focal point of the restaurant is the natural colored bar designed with stack laid stone and bar stools covered in brown ostrich skin with chromium legs. The ceiling features bronze tone louvres accented with red back lighting and a copper-torched boulder immerses from the center. Fully subscribing to this theory, the Vail Valley Foundation recently finalized this summer’s ShowDown Town free concert series schedule, including an additional show for the 2005 season.The concerts will run every Thursday evening through July 28, with shows getting under way at 6:30 p.m. in Eagle Town Park. Reserved seats are priced between $55-$85 apiece, depending on the performance. Calling all drama queens and kingsBEAVER CREEK – Almost two decades later and hundreds of laughing kids, the Beaver Creek Children’s Theatre Company is offering Children’s Theatre Workshops. Open to kids ages 5 to 12, these four-day workshops include instruction in all areas of theatrical production and creative dramatics. Participants explore their imagination, create characters, learn more about theatre, all while building a show from scratch. Not to mention the kids have a lot of fun, organizers said.On the final day of each workshop, children will star in a live performance open to the public with the adult members of the Beaver Creek Children’s Theatre Company on the Beaver Creek plaza. “We really enjoy introducing children to the fun and creativity of theatre,” said Brian Hall, director of the theater company. “It is a lot of fun for us to see their self-confidence grow and to develop friendships with some great kids.” Kids also receive a Beaver Creek Children’s Theatre T-shirt and a certificate of achievement with a cast photo. Red Cliff Studio Tour scheduled for AugustRED CLIFF – The 8th annual Red Cliff Studio Tour will be held in the old mining town of Red Cliff Aug. 27-28 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Attendees can walk, bike or drive through the town stopping at artists’ workshops – most which are also their homes – to view their creations and chat with the artists. Last year 12 artists participated and over 500 people promenaded through town. This year since Mango’s restaurant, famous for its fish tacos, will be under renovation, a local, nonprofit group of citizens will host a lunch at the school house to benefit the local children.
