ABOUT THE RED RIBBON PROJECT
Since its inception in 1996, the Red Ribbon Project has served Eagle County as a nonprofit with a focus of HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention and education. Since then, the organization has evolved to empower the community to reduce teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections.
The Red Ribbon Project’s focus on sexual health has contributed to a significant decline in teen births in Eagle County. Teen births have been almost cut in half over the past 4 years. In 2009, there were 60 births to mothers between the ages of 15 and 19. In 2012, there were 32 births to mothers between in the ages of 15 and 19.
The nonprofit’s director, Denise Kipp, along with some of its supporters, will volunteer at the event.
