Roy Alford, of Avon, has died
Roy William “Skip” Alford II, 53, of Avon, passed away suddenly July 2. Skip was a former employee of the town of Avon’s information technology department.
Skip graduated from Midlothian High School in 1973 and from Virginia Tech in 1980 with a mechanical engineering degree. Skip also completed several Microsoft computer degrees which he used in his profession.
Skip was the son of the late Roy and Lois Alford. He is survived by his sister, Alois Alford Ellis and her husband, Jack, of Richmond, Va.; brother Thomas Alford and wife Lynnie, of Richmond; brother Robert Alford and wife Sharon of Chesapeake, Va.; aunts Helen (Bea) Beardsworth and Norma (Bunny) Alford, of Waynesboro, Va.; and 17 nieces and nephews. Skip was the loving godfather of Shannon Ellis Denvil and Matthew Alford.
He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman and music enthusiast. His love and laughter will be missed by all his family and friends, especially the children.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate his life at 3 p.m., Sunday at Bob’s Place in the Lodge at Avon Center, 100 West Beaver Creek Blvd., in Avon. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate your written memories and pictures of Skip.
