Rummage sale raises $170,000 for local charities

Vail Daily/ Melinda KruseAs it is said " One person's trash is another person's treasure." At the rummage sale the treasures of all shapes and sizes are limitless.

MINTURN – The 40th annual Eagle Valley Community Fund Auction and Rummage Sale – held Aug. 21, 22, 28 and 29 in Maloit Park – raised more than $170,000 for local charities.

Organizers called it a “huge success.”Volunteers and businesses donated time and items for the sale and auction. Volunteers put in several thousand hours sorting and pricing all the goods, organizer Vi Brown said.

The money raised was doled out to more than 65 nonprofit groups throughout the Vail Valley. Leftover f were donated to Goodwill in Denver.Donations can be dropped off for next year’s sale at the rummage sale’s headquarters in Maloit Park in Minturn. For large item pickups, call Byron Brown at 476-5701.

Next year’s rummage sale is will be Aug.. 20, 21, 27 and 28. Vail Colorado
