Run for fun at Vail’s Oktoberfest

VAIL Enjoy an early morning of friendly competition at the Oktoberfest Fun Run. Benefiting the Childrens Garden of Learning and presented by FirstBank, the Fun Run provides children and parents alike the chance to continue the Oktoberfest celebration together for a worthy cause. Its also an opportunity for families to share the goal of physical fitness at all ages. On Sunday, the Oktoberfest Fun Run begins at 9 a.m. at Gore Creek Drives Checkpoint Charlie. Participants will have their choice of 10K, 5K run/walk or the Kids 1K. Strollers are welcome as well. The course will cover a similar route as in years past and will head east out of Vail Village and toward the Vail Golf Course. Runners will then make their way back to Vail Village for a finish at Checkpoint Charlie.In addition to the races, a silent auction will be held with many great items. Kids can enjoy colorful activities in the Kidz Zone while parents and those 21 and older may visit the Bloody Mary Bar. To register for the Oktoberfest Fun Run, visit http://www.vailoktoberfest.com. The cost is $20 with pre-registration and $25 for day-of registration at the race. Participants 18 and younger pay $10 for pre-registration and $10 for day-of registration.The Oktoberfest Fun Run is part of Vail Oktoberfest, the yearly festival of beer, music and fall, which starts up again today through Sunday in Vail Village. Vail Village will host the revelry of lively alpine horn and yodel demonstrations, Coleman all-natural brat-eating, Wolverine keg-bowling contests and oom-pah music the whole family can enjoy.
