Sackariason named Aspen Daily News editor

ASPEN, Colorado – Carolyn Sackariason, a reporter at The Aspen Times, has been named news editor at the Aspen Daily News.

Sackariason replaces Troy Hooper, who was suspended for two weeks following a late night incident in February that resulted in an Aspen police officer losing her job. Hooper, who had been Daily News editor since early 2007, did not immediately return a message left by The Associated Press.

Sackariason previously worked at the Aspen Daily News from 1995 to 1999 as a reporter and editor before becoming publisher of the Snowmass Sun.

She and Daily News owner Dave Danforth own the Santa Monica Free Press, along with a third partner, Ross Furukawa.

Danforth said Sackariason will remain at the Aspen Times until April 16, joining the Aspen Daily News shortly afterward.
