Salvation Army seeks holiday help
EAGLE COUNTY – The Vail Valley Salvation is looking for volunteers to sponsor needy families and ring bells during the upcoming winter holidays. Families that need sponsoring range in size from single-parent to large extended families, and need help buying Christmas gifts and warm clothing. The Salvation Army is also looking for seasonal bell ringers to raise money for the organization’s food-bank, holiday-basket and emergency-assistance programs. FRISCO – For most people, old newspapers go in the recycling bin or on the bottom of a bird cage. But some see art in the day’s printed news.Colorful baskets made of woven newspaper remnants will be just one of the creative and earth-friendly items at the Summit Recycling Project’s Arts and Crafts Fair Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old Recreation Building, 110 3rd St.Artists offer will also display etched goblets made from old wine bottles, handbags made from juice pouches, clocks made from old games and records, locally made candles, footstools made from old ski boots, picture frames made from old bike tires and chains, sea glass jewelry, fleece clothing, cribbage boards made of old skis, tote bags made from upholstery samples, bird baths crafted from old dishes, painted stones and more. The fair includes a bake sale and children’s activities as well.
