Samana in Vail celebrates opening day

Daily staff report
VAIL CO, Colorado
Special to the Daily Omega performs at Samana Lounge in Vail Friday night as part of the bar's Vail Mountain opening day festivities.

VAIL – Samana kicks off the season by featuring some of the rising stars on the electronic music scene. This year’s event is headlined by Omega, with his primal, funky and psychedelic sounds rooted in dubstep, jungle, progressive breaks, psychedelic trance and dub.

“Omega’s music is crushing live and fits in perfectly with artists he has shared the stage with like EOTO and Eskmo, but his unique use of melody and his sound crafting abilities shine a light on his serious writing skills,” said Scotty Stoughton, Samana’s music promoter.

Omega is a bass music producer and DJ, currently residing in Denver. He first discovered electronic music through the big beat, IDM, and industrial scenes during the late ’90s, and bought his first pair of turntables in 2000. An Omega set will always include many original tunes, remixes, edits, and mashes, with a heavy emphasis on live improvisation and manipulation.

Thick Chick performs a mix of electro house, dubstep and breaks and with the addition of a live drummer has really taken the performance to a new level. Sharing the stage with artists like Skrillex and 12th Plant has opened the doors for this Colorado act.
