Samana Lounge hosts Burning Man performer and electronic music producer Random Rab
VAIL — Samana Lounge will welcome Random Rab tonight to its first ticketed event of the winter season. This will be Rab’s first visit to Vail and Samana.
“Seeing an artist like Rab performing in such a small venue is a treat that doesn’t happen often,” said Ross Cohen, Samana’s talent buyer.
Random Rab is the musical brainchild of producer, instrumentalist and singer Rab Clinton. With more than 10 full-length albums, a highly dedicated fan base and countless shows across the world, he fills a unique niche in the electronic music scene. In addition to his popular Sunrise Sets at festivals such as Burning Man, he regularly performs in theaters and clubs and at festivals as a solo artist or with a live band. His live sets commonly include a mixture of live instrumentation, musical electronic production, live vocals and video projection.
Rab has toured extensively, including tours with Bassnectar, Shpongle, Beats Antique and Emancipator. His visit to Vail is paired with his event Saturday night with Shpongle in Denver. His last two albums debuted in the iTunes Top 10 Electronic Charts and the CMJ Top 5. The Untz ranked his last album, “Release,” as one of the Top 10 Electronic albums of 2013.
Random Rab was commissioned to make nine pieces of original music for the 40th anniversary celebration of the United Arab Emirates. In 2012, the royal family of Abu Dhabi selected him to make music for a massive international wedding celebration.
Opening this event will be local artist Kirby K, playing deep, techy house music. Kirby is no stranger to the stage and has been gaining a following both locally and nationally. In the past year alone, he has played Burning Man, Altitude Anonymous, Beta, Funky Buddha and more.
Rab will be the first of many artists visiting the stage of Samana this winter. Presale tickets for this event can be found at http://www.samanalounge.com until 4 p.m. today and tickets will be available at the door. Look for more ticketed entertainment in the coming weeks and live music every Sunday night after the first of the year at Samana.
