What goods or services do you provide? Bar night club.
What’s new or exciting at your place?
Samana will be celebrating its seven-year anniversary Nov. 25 with new talent to the Vail Valley, DJ Three. Three has been tirelessly holding the flag for underground electronic music in the U.S. since his rise out of the sunny state of Florida in the early ’90s. In that time, he’s emerged as one of the brightest DJ talents in the U.S. and continues to be a true inspiration for many of us. He’s held residencies at NYC’s Twilo, Cielo (Robots) and Love, as well as Florida’s legendary Simons while playing lauded guest spots at San Francisco’s Wicked party, Fabric (UK), Panorama Bar (Berlin), Blk Market Membership (NYC) and forward-thinking events like Japans Labyrinth Festival and Australia’s Rainbow Serpent.
What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition?
New General Manager Shareef Hammad has taken over spring of 2011. Shareef is committed to keeping local business up while attracting tourists in town for ski vacations. Shareef is committed to great service with a staff that is energetic, friendly and courteous. This winter will include live music every Wednesday, national and international electronic talent on Thursdays and Fridays and a mix of eclectic music Sunday through Tuesday with both bands and DJs being booked on these nights.
What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you?
Customers expect to have fast, courteous service while listening to a number of different styles of music, which is meant to make the crowd in Samana dance, smile and enjoy themselves seven nights a week. Samana is the longest standing nightclub in Vail Village and is committed to friendly service from the door/security staff to the waitresses and bartenders.
Tell us a little about your background, education and experience. Shareef has been in the bar business for 12-plus years working at classic venues like State Bridge, Garfinkel’s, the Lions Den and the Bridge. All of these experience have shaped Shareef’s motto of having fast, courteous service with a smile.
What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened?
Samana has a ceiling-to-floor mirror in the back of the bar. Both the staff and patrons have seen a number of people walk full speed into the mirror thinking it’s another room. To solve this problem Samana now has a couch in front of the mirror so people do not hurt themselves.
