Sandbar hosts hurricane benefit Thursday
VAIL – Local businesses continue to step up to help with hurricane relief efforts for the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. Thursday evening, beginning at 8, the Sandbar Sports Grill in West Vail hosts a benefit to provide money and supplies to those affected by Hurricane Katrina.A $5 cover at the door will go to the Salvation Army fund, said Sandbar manager Dan Van Brummelen. Attendees are asked to bring items that can be used by hurricane refugees, including hygiene items like toothpaste and toothbrushes, tampons, baby formula and diapers, soaps, shampoos and the like. Also needed is clothing, sleeping bags and canned and bottled drinks.The supplies will be handed off to a contingent from Bagali’s Italian Kitchen in Vail, who will drive to New Orleans to deliver it all.
