Scalper stubbed; 58 NLCS tix confiscated

DENVER ” Police arrested a scalper near Coors Field Wednesday after he allegedly sold a pair of tickets to undercover police officers for triple their face value.

The man’s name was not been released because he was being booked into jail and his identity had not been verified, said police spokesman Lt. Ron Saunier.

Selling tickets for more than their face value is illegal in Denver and punishable by fines of up to $999 and one year in jail.

Saunier said the man had purchased 60 tickets for $3,090 at a Coors Field ticket window for the upcoming National League Championship Series with the Arizona Diamondbacks, which moves to Denver after the first two games in Phoenix.

The series is sold out.

The two tickets had a face value of $100 but were sold to officers for $300, Saunier said.

“He had some sort of cheat sheet on him that showed he planned to make something like $14,000 on the tickets,” Saunier said.

Two tickets were sold before police arrested him. The remaining 58 tickets were confiscated and placed in evidence, meaning they will go unused for the series, Saunier said.
