Scam seeks secret shoppers in Vail Valley
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL VALLEY, Colorado ” A letter offering Vail Valley residents money to be a secret shopper is a scam, the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office warned Thursday.
The letter, which includes a job offer to become a consumer service evaluator and a check for $3,800, claims to be from First Associations Market Research Group. The recipient is told to cash the enclosed check and then call for assignment instructions, the Sheriff’s Office says.
The letter is not specifically targeted at Vail Valley residents.
Those who receive the letter should not respond or cash the check, the Sheriff’s Office says.
The Sheriff’s Office warms residents to always be cautious when responding to requests or special offers delivered through unsolicited mail. Residents are advised to guard personal and bank account information carefully.
Wildfires have become more numerous, bigger and more destructive in the past 40 years. That’s a big deal in a town surrounded by public land.
