VAIL, Colorado – State Rep. Christine Scanlan (D-Summit County) was honored by the Independent Bankers of Colorado Friday with the 2010 Champion of Main Street Award.

The Champion of Main Street Colorado Award is given to lawmakers who recognize the value and significance of local economies and what it takes to keep thriving.

“I am so pleased to be honored by the small local banks that support our communities, create good jobs, and provide credit to our neighbors and small businesses,” Scanlan said. “These folks aren’t Wall Street, they’re our community partners on Main Street who support our schools, our teams, and our nonprofit groups.”

Rep. Scanlan has worked on education reform and keeping forests healthy.

“Christine Scanlan understands Colorado’s Main Street economies and the important role they- play in Colorado’s prosperity,” said Barbara Walker, IBC’s executive director.

Scanlan was presented the award at a meeting at the Vail Cascade. She represents Eagle, Summit and Lake counties in the state House.
