BEAVER CREEK — This week, the Vail Valley Foundation announced a lineup of beer tastings, concerts, movies, fireworks and more for the second-annual EverBank America's Winter Opening, which takes place Thursday, Dec. 1, through Sunday, Dec. 4, alongside FIS Audi Birds of Prey World Cup race week in Beaver Creek.

Tickets are on sale now for a series of events, including the all-new Beers of Prey winter seasonal beer tastings, performances from Strange Americans and Bonfire Dub and Friends and a showing of "The Fourth Phase," the new movie from Red Bull Media House. Spectating at the Audi Birds of Prey World Cup races remains free and open to the public.

Also free to the public are the Birds of Prey Way festivities in Beaver Creek Village. Live bands in the plaza, the kettle curling tournament, demos and sponsor booths, prizes and giveaways will all be part of this celebratory festival in Beaver Creek Village.

"Every year, we celebrate where winter begins with our reliable early-season conditions at our world-renown World Cup races, and the EverBank America's Winter Opening is the place to be to mark the occasion," said Duncan Horner, vice president of marketing and communications for the Vail Valley Foundation.

"The snowpack is consistently the best in the world, and the top ski racers converge on our mountain for an exhilarating three days of heart-pounding action. When the race day is done, we'll be kicking off the season in style through a multitude of activities on Birds of Prey Way in Beaver Creek village and at the Vilar Performing Arts Center, featuring the best race week entertainment we've seen to date."

Beaver Creek Village comes alive with the Birds of Prey Way festival starting Thursday, Dec. 1, at 4 p.m. and running throughout the weekend during apres ski. The Pumphouse Bar and beer garden, kids' activities, live music, sponsor demos and the return of the kettle curling tournament are among many elements that will animate the village. Fireworks will illuminate the festival on Friday and Saturday evenings at 6:10 p.m.

Beers of Prey beer tastings

An all-new event takes wing with the Beers of Prey craft beer tasting session at the Vilar Performing Arts Center on Friday, Dec. 1. The event will bring 10 craft breweries to the Vilar for a sampling of their products, featuring winter seasonals. The event will also offer passes to three special-release tasting sessions in the Vilar's May Gallery.

Patrons can pair the tasting with the Bonfire Dub concert, which also takes place at the Vilar on Friday night, or purchase tickets solely for the tasting. Tickets are available online at americaswinteropening.com for $35, and the special tasting sessions are $10 each. Combine the concert and the tasting for $40.

Concerts

The lights come up on the Vilar Performing Arts Center stage throughout the EverBank America's Winter Opening. On Thursday, Dec. 1, the Vilar will be on its feet with a performance from Strange Americans, the Boulder-based band that is quickly rising through the ranks with its straight-ahead, rock n' roll sound. Tickets are $15.

Regional favorites Bonfire Dub and Friends will take the stage on Friday, Dec. 2, at 8 p.m. as they celebrate the release of an upcoming new album. Tickets to the show are $10, or pair the concert with Beers of Prey with a $40 combo pack.
