Scholarship success

Vail, CO, Colorado

I want to personally thank the Guardian scholarship program, particularly Ron, Lucy and Susie Davis, for helping my daughter to achieve her goals! Desiree is graduating with a bachelor’s degree this May from UC Denver with honors!

I have always encouraged my daughter to work hard and have stressed the importance of determination to reach for the stars. As a single, working mother, I was not able to save for Desi’s education.

Thankfully, the Guardian Scholars program was created to help committed young minds achieve their goals, even if their parents were not able to financially get them there. I am forever indebted for the endowment of generosity, fellowship and faith that they have in Desiree. Without the Guardian scholarship program, Desi may not have been able to realize her dreams!

The article that fellow scholar Brittany Taggart wrote about Desiree in April 11’s paper demonstrates that other young people recognize the importance of education and the invaluable gift that the Guardian scholarship program offers.

My biggest hope is that Brittany and other recipients of the Guardian scholarship program will follow Desi’s lead and realize their full potential, knowing that there is nothing you cannot accomplish ” especially when people believe in you!

Participate in The Longevity Project

The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.

I am so proud of you, Desi!

I wish Desi and all of the future Guardian Scholars much success! What an amazing opportunity awaits you! Again, thanks to all of you who work so hard to make this wonderful scholarship program available to our younger generation so that they may fulfill their dreams! Please support this organization so that all of our children have a chance to make a difference in the future! Visit the Web site at
