School all about arts for a week
VAIL – The halls and walls of Vail Mountain School were covered last week by student art work. Students and teachers at the East Vail private school celebrated the annual Week-of-the-Arts. On Wednesday, local artists and musicians spent the morning working with students and sharing their craft.Week-of-the-Arts has become a traditional celebration at Vail Mountain School during which students look at and create art in mixed-age groups and with visiting artists. Students in kindergarten through 12th grade worked on projects in visual arts, art history, music and journalism.Visiting artists included caricature artists Ken Carpenter and Steve Kiene; funk band Flux 5; watercolor painter Sarah Will; artist Resa Bates; painter Pat Walsh; photographer Jon Sheppard; potter Rhonda Machato; journalists Tom Boyd and Dave Phillips; and graphic designer Susan Mitchell.Vail, Colorado
