School District supports federal standards

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – The Eagle County school board recently voted to support the State of Colorado Board of Education’s adoption of the National Common Core Standards, which will be combined with the Colorado Academic Standards.

In August, the Colorado State Board of Education voted 4-3 to fully adopt the Common Core standards in math and English language arts.

The Eagle County school board does not believe that Common Core Standards in any way limit local control. Each school district has complete freedom to decide how to help its own students reach those standards.
