School hours have changed

Cindy Ramunno/Special to the Daily

Last spring, Eagle County School District officials notified parents of changes in the start and end times of the school days for elementary and secondary students in the district.

After extensive research, officials decided to start elementary students earlier in the day, thus having the day end earlier for those students. For middle and high school students, classes will begin and end later in the day.

School district spokesperson Pam Boyd emphasizes that the changes are meant to improve student achievement.

“We do believe these changes will take advantage of the best learning opportunities for students at the appropriate ages,” Boyd says.

The first day for students is Aug. 21st. Bus schedules will be posted in local newspapers.

For any questions regarding start and end times or bus schedules, call 328-6321. Principals and secretaries are currently in schools, so for an individual school-related question, call your local school.

The new start and end times for all Eagle County School District schools are:

– Elementary schools: 8 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

– Middle and high schools: 8:30 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
