Scouts host holiday drive in Avon
December 12, 2003
When it comes to holiday spirit, Cub Scout Pack 231 will be walking the talk with its second Community Holiday Food and Toy Drive at Avon’s City Market and Wal-Mart, Sunday.
The scouts will be in uniform at the stores from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. collecting food and toy donations. The goal this year is to surpass the 400 pounds of food and toys collected last year.
A wish list from needy families was complied with assistance from local charitable organizations. It includes basic items like tooth brushes, canned goods and gloves to books, sleds and pajamas. The organizations benefitting from the drive include the Eagle County Food Bank, Salvation Army, Eagle County Resource Center and Freedom Ranch Safe House.
