Screenplay winners from the Vail Film Festival

VAIL, Colorado ” The Vail Film Festival announced today the winning screenwriters from the 2nd annual screenplay competition held this summer who will be featured at this year’s festival. The winning screenwriter in the Feature and the Short Script categories will have their scripts read by professional actors today. Over 400 scripts were submitted for the competition in each category.

On Friday at the Best Life Arrabelle Theater, the winning short script, “Heart Rate,” by Alan Barkley, was read. “Heart Rate” focuses on a two police officers who enter an abandoned building, against orders, searching for a cop killer ” and start hunting each other.

Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Best Life Arrabelle Theater the winning Feature Script, “Poe’s Second Chance,” by Nancy Sanders, will be read.

“Poe’s Second Chance” follows Eliza Valentine’s life, who was disillusioned by the silliness of her own hit TV show, ‘Who Do You Think You Were?’ decides to quit … only to hesitate when a man, claiming to have been Edgar Allan Poe, appears on the show and causes her to reevaluate not just her job, but also her love life.
