Sculptor George Lundeen visits Beaver Creek

BEAVER CREEK, Colorado – George Lundeen, who will be at Knox Galleries today and Sunday, is a sculptor who loves the human figure. He says he aims for his sculptures to reflect emotions and the spirit of life. “I learned a long time ago that a good writer writes what he knows about, and an artist does the same,” says Lundeen, who will be at Knox Galleries in Beaver Creek today. A native of Holdrege, Nebraska, Lundeen was a Fullbright-Hayes Scholar studying at the Academia de Belle Arte in Florence, Italy. He holds a master of fine arts from the University of Illinois and a bachelor of arts from Hastings College in Nebraska.He has been commissioned to sculpt portraits and other works for universities, municipalities, foundations, and corporations. The Jeppesen Terminal at Denver International Airport is home to Lundeen’s sculpture of the aviation pioneer and aeronautic chart maker, Captain Elrey B. Jeppesen.
