Search crews rescue 2 skiers stranded in Bridger Mountains
August 3, 2010
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Search crews have rescued a Bozeman woman and a friend from New Jersey who became stranded while trying to ski in the Bridger Mountains over the weekend.
The Gallatin County Sheriff’s office says the pair hiked from Ferry Lake intending to ski a route called The Great One on Naya Nuki Peak on Sunday, but they ended up south of their destination with hazardous terrain above and below them.
They called for help just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday but were forced to spend the night on the mountain because nightfall and wind prevented rescuers from roping them down the cliff to a landing pad.
The skiers were rescued Monday morning.
