Search for evidence concludes after body found near Glenwood Springs
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado – The search for additional evidence after last week’s discovery of a dismembered body in an apple orchard near Canyon Creek, west of Glenwood springs, has concluded, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
“They finished up with a grid search and got a lot more done Sunday than they expected and were able to wrap that up Sunday night,” said sheriff’s office spokeswoman Holly Hopple.
She said that investigators searched for other remains of the body through the weekend, but none were found. Not all of the remains have been recovered, she said.
Canyon Creek Road, which was restricted to area residents, was reopened to regular traffic Monday as well.
Hopple also said the sheriff’s office had received various tips regarding the woman’s possible identity, and that the investigators are following any and all leads.
Results of a post-mortem exam released Sunday indicated the body was that of a 20- to 35-year-old Caucasian female with brown hair with blonde highlights. The report also stated that the woman had multiple tattoos and extensive dental work.
Sheriff’s officials have not said how long the body may have been at the orchard before it was discovered by a boy working in the orchard Friday, nor has a cause of death has been released.
The sheriff’s office is asking that anyone with information regarding this case, or with information about a missing person who matches the description of the deceased, contact them at 945-0453. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call Garfield County Crime Stoppers at 945-0101.
