AVON, Colorado – Developers of the Village at Avon say they’re actively looking for tenants for 15 acres near the Wal-Mart shopping center.
“We’re mainly looking for high volume retailers,” Traer Creek LLC spokesman Michael Lindholm said.
Some medium-sized box stores, plus a few smaller retailers could be among the possibilities, he said.
The land in question stands west of William J. Post Boulevard and north of East Beaver Creek Boulevard. Traer Creek LLC has hired Legend Retail Group in Denver to spearhead the effort to secure tenants, Lindholm said. He declined to say when developers hired Legend.
Lindholm said the land has been for lease for a long time, but retailers have showed a renewed interest. He declined to say which retailers are interested.

Although the search is on for tenants, that doesn’t necessarily mean a box store will appear any time soon.
Mayor Ron Wolfe said developers would have to build a large water tank and resolve their disputes with the town before they could build retail space, he said.
“I think by the time the doors would open, I’m guessing, that’s a three year away project,” Wolfe said.
He said developers can build as much as “several hundred thousand” square feet of commercial space, although he didn’t have the exact figure from the development agreement handy.
The Village at Avon has been stalled because of lawsuits between the town and the Traer Creek Metropolitan District. Wolf said town council plans to decide today whether to extend settlement talks or move ahead with the lawsuit.
