BEAVER CREEK — Mirabelle will host a date night on Saturday with a dine-in movie screening. Pairing chef Daniel Joly’s cuisine with award-winning Kamen wines from vintner and producer Robert Mark Kamen, this special dinner is followed by an outdoor screening of Kamen’s film “A Walk in the Clouds,” starring Keanu Reeves.
The three-course paired dinner starts with a baby pumpkin fall salad, paired with Kamen Sauvignon Blanc. Lobster ravioli will come next, paired with Kamen Cabernet Sauvignon; Colorado grilled lamb chops finish the savory courses, paired with Kamen Kashmir Cabernet Sauvignon. A dessert of pistachio macaroons and fruit sorbet completes the meal before the outdoor movie showing begins on the lawn at Mirabelle.
About the Writer
Kamen, a writer and producer who is perhaps best known for the “Taken” and “Transporter” franchises, as well as “The Karate Kid,” wrote this 1995 film along with Mark Miller and Harvey Weitzman. Starring Reeves and Anthony Quinn, “A Walk in the Clouds” follows a solder returning from World War II who ends up traveling to northern California’s wine country to pose as a young, unmarried woman’s husband.
“We love Kamen wines and thought an evening to showcase both the wines and his work would make a great event,” Joly said.
Along with the main attraction, a trailer for an upcoming film, “Judgment of Paris” will also be shown. The film, which was produced by Kamen and Rotella Productions, follows the story of wine store and wine school owner Steven Spurrier, who staged the historic 1976 Paris Tasting which resulted in an American 1973 Chardonnay being judged the world’s best, beating the great white wines of Burgundy and shocking the international wine world.
Mirabelle’s dine-in movie will take place on Saturday at 6 p.m. The price is $300 per couple and is all-inclusive. This event will have limited seating; reservations are highly encouraged. Please call 970-949-7728 for reservations. Note that a credit card will be required for all reservations; the cancellation policy is that reservations must be canceled 72 hours prior to the event.
