See the winning paintings from paint off at Avon gallery
AVON — Art of the Valley Gallery in Chapel Square hosted an Art Paint Off and Art Show on Saturday. The gallery hosted more than 100 people at the art show who voted on the artwork painted that day. Seventeen artists stepped up to the challenge of the paint-off, working from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and submitted their original paintings to be voted on for People’s Choice and Artist’s Choice awards at the evening art show.
Vida Kijauskas won first place; Mark Lemon took second place and Mio Cerkovic was acknowledged by his peers with the Artist’s Choice award. Cerkovic won a gift certificate given by Scully’s Art Supplies and a $50 cash award.
The artwork made during the event will be displayed at the gallery through Monday.
“I’m really pleased with all who participated and attended this first art event at the gallery in support of local artists. Over all the event was a great success,” said Mason Torry, gallery director. “Art of the Valley Gallery looks forward to hosting many more art events including artist receptions, seasonal paint-outs and art shows and, eventually, a late summer or early fall plein air event to promote local art.”
Torry thanked all who participated in the community art event.
