Sewer project to begin in Intermountain
VAIL, Colorado – Work begins Monday to install a new sewer main beneath the parking lot of Stephens Park in Vail’s Intermountain neighborhood. Eagle River Water & Sanitation District expects work to finish by Sept. 30.The park and playground are open throughout construction while the entry drive and parking lot will be closed for the duration of the project. Pedestrians will be able to access the park from South Frontage Road and via the path from Kinnickinnick Road. The project will upgrade the sewer collection system in the Intermountain area by permanently eliminating a damaged section of sewer main crossing through Gore Creek. As upgrades are necessary, the district will reroute sewer mains to nearby locations, such as beneath the Stephens Park parking lot, to reduce the number of creek crossings in the sewer collection system. This lessens potential impacts to local streams and reduces the cost and difficulty of future maintenance and repair.Work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday with flaggers in place during project work hours. The construction area will be fenced at all times. For more information go to erwsd.org or contact ERWSD Construction Manager Jim Boyd at 970-471-3696.
The proposed deal would be a three-way agreement between the town, the developer and the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District.
