Shaving heads, fighting cancer
EAGLE Thirty-five people shaved their heads last week to raise money for cancer research and support two local boys who are battling the disease. Jackson Jack Day, 5, who is being treated for Wilms tumor, and Finn Rooney, 4, who has acute lymphoblastic leukemia, were the guests of honor March 17 at a fundraiser for St. Baldricks Foundation at the Eagle fire station. Barbers Velia Wally Reyna, Erika Eichler and Heather Zelinsky donated their time to do the cutting. Other volunteers included Sandy Ziegler, Sandy Brown, April Nottingham and Patricia Gibbons. The second annual event raised more than $25,000. As of this year, St. Baldricks Foundation has raised more than $20 million dollars from events in 10 countries for children with cancer.
