Sheepskin Factory in Denver destroyed by fire

DENVER – The Sheepskin Factory in Denver has been destroyed by an early morning fire that police are labeling suspicious.

The blaze began just before 3:30 a.m. Friday at the Sheepskin Factory on Colorado Boulevard and Cherry Creek Drive North.

Denver Fire Department spokesman Lt. Phil Champagne says the building’s roof was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. He says the fire has been labeled suspicious because of its intensity and because of a tip that police received that morning.

No one was injured.

Fire crews say a rug store in the same building was damaged.

The northbound lanes of Colorado Boulevard between Alameda Avenue and Cherry Creek Drive South were closed as of 5:40 a.m. Friday.

The Sheepskin Factory sold such items as sheepskin pet toys and sheepskin seat covers.
