Sheriff candidate pays fines
EAGLE COUNTY ” Scott Griffin is financing his campaign himself, but most of that money has been paid in fines.
According to records from the Eagle County Clerk and Recorder’s Office and the Colorado Secretary of State’s campaign finance Web site, Griffin, a Gypsum Democrat running for Eagle County Sheriff, missed a couple of filing deadlines.
The $50 per day fines added up quickly, to a total of $2,150. The fines have been paid.
Records show Griffin also spent $100 on campaign business cards during the reporting period that ended Oct. 12.
In July, Griffin spent $494 on yard signs. That money, too, came out of his own pocket.
