Sheriff to hold sex-predator meeting in Eagle tonight

Daily Staff Report
Vail, CO Colorado

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado ” A last-minute court ruling Wednesday has blocked the release of a “sexually violent predator” who had been expected to return to Eagle County, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Sheriff’s Office said it will hold a meeting Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at the County Building in Eagle where residents can get more details.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released the inmate’s name. A person is designated a “sexually violent predator” when authorities believe there is a high risk the person will commit another crime.

The inmate’s sentence was re-evaluated at a hearing Wednesday by Eagle County Judge Thomas Moorehead. There will be another hearing on Feb. 6 that could determine when the inmate is released, the Sheriff’s Office said.
