Sheriffs offer scholarship
EAGLE COUNTY ” The County Sheriffs of Colorado will award a $500 scholarship to an Eagle County student this spring. In addition, a recipient will be selected from among the winners to receive the $1,000 Eugene/Becky Battles Scholarship.
Applications have been mailed to secondary schools and institutions of higher learning in the in Eagle County, Sheriff Joe Hoy said.
Applicants are also available at the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office at The Eagle County Justice Center, 0885 E. Chamber Ave. in Eagle.
Hoy will appoint a local citizens committee to review the applications. The committee will be looking for a student’s ability, merit, character, sincerity, and career purpose, Hoy said.
Eagle County residents who are enrolled in or applying to a vocational training program or institution of college in Colorado as a full- or part-time student is eligible for the scholarship. There are no restrictions as to the courses of study or training which may be pursued.
