Shiffrin to appear at Apres Avon Friday
AVON — Fans have the chance to meet local star and Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin, who will be signing autographs at the Apres Avon special guests tent on Friday from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m.
Located at the base of Beaver Creek, Apres Avon features post-race activity each day from 2 to 5:30 p.m. It is an outdoor and tented venue in Avon’s central core and presents live music, performance art, food, craft brews and distilled tastings, as well as athlete signings and visits by the 2015 mascots.
Shiffrin, 19, of Eagle-Vail, is the reigning slalom gold medalist in both the Olympics and World Championships.
Apres Avon is located at Possibility Plaza on Avon’s Main Street Mall at the northwest corner of Avon Road and Benchmark Road (adjacent to the new Wyndham Hotel) and within a short walking distance to Avon’s Transit Station, where buses will provide free transportation to and from Vail, Beaver Creek and parking areas. General public parking is available for all 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships events at the Rodeo Lot in East Avon. Limited parking for Apres Avon is available on Lake Street, West Beaver Creek Boulevard and at the Avon Recreation Center. Free buses between Vail, Beaver Creek and Avon will be running throughout the World Championships.
