Shooting victim dead, police say
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado
GLENWOOD SPRINGS ” Police have confirmed that the victim from last night’s shooting at the Ponderosa Lodge is dead.
In a press statement received this morning, police say that a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. The first officer on the scene along with a local resident performed CPR on the victim. The man was then transported Valley View Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The name of the man has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Police first responded to the scene at 9:55 p.m. after receiving a 911 call. The property is located in West Glenwood at 51793 Highway 6.
The suspected gunman is still at large but police don’t feel that there’s an ongoing danger to the neighboring area, but they do recommend caution after an incident like this.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation responded with investigators and crime scene specialists. Carbondale Police provided a bi-lingual officer to assist with interviews. Other agencies involved include the Garfield County Sheriff, the All Hazards Response Team, a Victim’s Assistance Advocate and Garfield County Coroner.
The 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office was on the scene to assist and to prepare search warrants for the area.
The press release says that the shooting is classified as a homicide and further details of the shooting will be withheld to insure the integrity of the investigation.
