VAIL – The third annual Alter Ego Costume Ball fundraiser is set for Saturday at Rick & Kelly’s Restaurant in Edwards. The event goes from 6 to 11 p.m. The adults-only, costume-optional event supports two local daycare facilities – Miller Ranch Child Care Center and Vail Child Care Center – with staffing and operational costs through funds raised from ticket sales and silent auction items. Tickets, which are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, gets you a buffet dinner and one beer or cocktail. A DJ, dancing and live auction will entertain attendees. “It’s a lot of fun, and it supports a great cause,” said Cindy Lagace, director of the Vail Child Care Center. All of the proceeds benefits “I think it benefits our entire community having safe, quality childcare in the valley.”Though costumes aren’t required, they are encouraged. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.Lagace is excited about this years silent auction items, which include a week-long stay for two at La Selva Mariposa resort in Tulum, Mexico; a Santa Fe package that includes one night at the Inn & Spa at Loretto, a $100 towards dinner at the hotel and tickets to the Georgia O’Keefe Museum and to 10,000 Waves Spa; skis and ski wear; $500 worth of autographed memoribilia from former Pittsburgh Steelers football player Ernie Stautner; Golden Bear earrings; two tickets for Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park; gift certificates to local restaurants and wine. Vail and Miller Ranch Child Care Centers are operated by Eagle Valley Child Care Association (EVCCA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed by Eagle County, the Town of Vail and local employers to address need for quality, affordable child care in the Eagle Valley. EVCCA operates Vail Child Care Center that opened in 2001, and Miller Ranch Child Care Center that opened in 2005. Both provide care for local infants, toddlers and preschoolers, ages eight weeks to five years. The Turtle Bus will be offering two pick-ups and two departures (with stops at the Vail Transportation Center, Sandbar in West Vail, Loaded Joes in Avon and Rick & Kelly’s in Edwards).
