VAIL VALLEY, Colorado -Get your snowshoes out of storage, Vail Valley. There will be three races during this season’s Beaver Creek Snowshoe Adventure Series, the largest annual snowshoe series of its kind in North America, The races are Jan. 10, Feb. 7 and March 7 as the annual Jeremy Wright North American Snowshoe Championships. In its 13th season, the races series draws first-time snowshoers, world-class snowshoe athletes, kids of all ages and everyone in between. Each event within the series includes a 5K Quest, a competitive 10K and a Kids’ 1K. The 2009 series saw more than 1,500 participants, the largest attendance in the history of the event. A pre-registration series pass is available starting Tuesday for $80 until Jan. 9 and includes a free gift. Per race pre-registration is available for $30 and closes at 5 p.m. the night prior to each event. Event day registration is also available for $35 and will take place in Beaver Creek starting at 9 a.m. prior to each race. The Kids’ 1K for children 12 years-of-age and younger is free for any child accompanied by a parent. Child care resources will not be offered this year due to lack of demand. In addition, the Beaver Creek Nordic Center and Atlas Snow-Shoe Company will provide a limited number of free snowshoes demos and basic instruction to participants prior to each event.Sponsorships for the series are still available.
