“It’s a clear night in Colorado, the sky is electric blue … .” Lyrics from a new song on “Kevin Heinz & Friends” set the scene for the latest musical effort by local singer-songwriter Kevin Heinz.Playing electric-acoustic rock, Heinz (voice, guitar and harmonica) emotes love, friendship and wonder through his music and lyrics.Heinz will perform at the Minturn Winter Market Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. An official CD-release show will take place in Boulder on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Ozo Coffee on Pearl Street. There also will be release parties held in various mountain towns across Colorado. On the new album, Heinz collaborates with various musician friends, all of whom live in different mountain towns of Colorado. “I sent out rough musical ideas as email attachments and would get emails back with guitar solos, bass lines, keyboard tracks and other instrumental parts attached,” he said. “It was an inspirational process, and I was always very excited to hear what my friends had recorded.”Friends include Dimitri Merrill (bass, guitar and banjo), Johnny Marriner (keys) and Ted Welles (drums). Also featured are the voices of Avon Elementary “School of Rock” students, who sing with the last chorus on the sing-along song “Found Truth.” “I’m gracious for the effort and energy everyone spent on their own time and couldn’t have done it without such amazing and musically talented friends,” Heinz said. Heinz grew up playing music in Boulder and started writing and recording music in high school. He recorded his first solo album of original work in 2001, titled “Daydreaming.” In 2004, he traveled to Australia and studied music production at Griffith University in Queensland, and produced a full-band original demo titled “Australia,” while taking classes in live sound reinforcement, studio production and engineering, music business and performance.”Kevin Heinz & Friends,” his third self-produced album, is available for purchase at performances and online at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/kevinheinzfriends and http://www.facebook.com/kevinheinzmusic.
