Skateboarder found lying on roadside
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL, Colorado ” A man who may have fallen off his skateboard was in critical condition at a Denver hospital Wednesday night, authorities said.
Kyle Sullivan, 26, of Vail, was believed to have been skateboarding downhill before he was found lying on the side of Red Sandstone Road between Potato Patch Drive and North Frontage Road shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday, Vail police Detective Sgt. Craig Bettis said.
“It’s pretty steep,” Bettis said about the stretch of the road where Sullivan was found.
An ambulance took Sullivan to Vail Valley Medical Center at first. Sullivan was later driven to Denver Health Medical Center because it was too windy to fly him there, Bettis said.
Police do not know what led to the accident, Bettis said. A witness driving by found Sullivan and called 911.
Police have not talked to Sullivan yet, but do not suspect anything else, such as a car, being involved, Bettis said.
“He’s the only one that really knows what happened at this point,” Bettis said.
Sullivan was not wearing a helmet or pads, said Bettis, who did not know the extent of Sullivan’s injuries.
